James Cameron says, “It’s Mars Mission in IMAX 3D, Baby!”

James Cameron has approached NASA administrator, Charles Bolden, with an idea to Hollywood-tize the upcoming 2011 space mission to Mars. The Mars Rover (a.k.a. “Curiosity”) has been in preparation for its upcoming mission for the past couple years, which  includes a custom 2D camera which had already been bought and paid for.

NASA is going to have to hustle to prepare the additional camera (partially funded by Cameron), which will record footage of the Mars surface at up to 10 frames per second. If I know technology, if they are going to spend millions of dollars to send the Rover up to Mars to document this historical moment, they better at least strap a couple $300 i-Phone’s as backup!

Now we are all going to have to pay $28 at the local 3D Imax just to see what Mars looks like. Start saving your money!
